Описание к видео How to recognise rummaging & Hoarding in dementia

Some individuals with dementia have a tendency to rummage through drawers and closets as if looking for something. Others tend to gather up all sorts of items as if they were collectors. These Behaviours are particularly a problem if they are rummaging through or hoarding other individual’s possessions. Hoarding is also a problem when perishable food or medications are hoarded.
Staff will need to gather information from the service user, relatives and
friends. It would benefit the service user if the staff set a meeting with
everyone concerned and use tools such as life history books or essential
lifestyle plans, these tools enable the staff to build a history about the
service user providing a framework to the service user’s needs. The
tools used will provide guidance to,
• Learn what is important to the person in everyday life
• Assess issues of health and safety
• Assess what the person might want to learn to get more of what is
important
