5th International Marxist-Feminist Conference 2023 - Keynote Gayatri C. Spivak

The opening keynote by Gayatri C. Spivak at the 5th International Marxist-Feminist Conference 2023 in Warsaw went back to the days of primitive accumulation, offering a new reading of that period in a feminist interpretation.

Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is a world renowned critical theorist whose work has been particularly influential to the field of post-colonialism, for which she is often referred to as having been a pioneer. She is best known for her contemporary cultural and critical theories to challenge the “legacy of colonialism” and the way readers engage with literature and culture. She often focuses on the cultural texts of those who are marginalised by dominant western culture: the new immigrant, the working class and women. Her research interests focus on feminism, Marxism, deconstruction and globalisation.
