Beneath The Thing's icy skin lie some good ideas; ideas that were ambitious in their time and that, even with the remaster, are a bigger bite than the game's rusty mouth. In the midst of a glut of sixth-generation licensed games, this one might be one of the good ones, but on closer inspection, it's repetitive, tedious, and disappointing. The $30 price tag in a less-than-ideal technical condition is another reason not to recommend it at the time of review. So if you're crazy about The Thing, wait and get a more polished experience on sale.
