In a major breakthrough, the team of PS. Vikas Puri has busted an extortion syndicate who made an extortion call through WhatsApp calling feature and trying to extort One Crore Rupee from a Delhi based businessman. The mastermind of this syndicate is surface to be jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal who is running extortion syndicate through his close associate Satinder @ Bhinda who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in multiple cases of heinous offences such as extortion, murder, attempt to murder and operating his syndicate from inside Tihar Jail. All the accused persons are of young age and one of them is an MBA dropout.

Profile of accused persons:-

Jai Dixit @ Sonu, aged 22 yrs R/o Najafgarh, Delhi. He was in direct contact with his gang leader Satinder @ Bhinda through facebook messenger and Whatsapp calling/chatting and received all instruction from the gang leader to implement through gang members.
Mandeep Singh @ Sardar, aged 25 yrs R/o Ranaji Enclave, Najafgarh, Delhi. He made extortion call to the complainant in name of his gang leader Satinder @ Bhinda.
3. Naveen Kumar, aged 30 yrs R/o Village Nangli Sakrawati, Delhi. He arranged logistics support on the direction of his gang leader Satender @ Bhinda.
4. Raman Singh, aged 26 yrs R/o New Roshan Pura Najafgarh, Delhi. He also arranged logistics on the direction of his gang leader Satender @ Bhinda.
5. Praveen Kumar, aged 31 yrs R/o Najafgarh, Delhi, age 31 yrs. An MBA drop out. He is an active snatcher of west Delhi and as per planning of syndicate he snatched the alleged SIM card which was used for making extortion call to the complainant. He is found previously involved in 06 Criminal cases of Delhi & Haryana.
6. Rajeev @ Kalu, aged 26 yrs R/o Dharampura, Najafgarh, Delhi. He is also an active snatcher of west Delhi. He snatched the alleged SIM card which was used for making extortion call to the complainant.
7. Akash R/o Dharampura Najafgarh, Delhi. The snatched mobile phone pertaining to FIR No. 542/20 u/s 379/356/34 IPC PS. Baba Haridas Nagar was recovered from him. The sim card of snatched mobile phone was used for making extortion call to the complainant.

Recoveries:-

One .32 bore automatic pistol with 05 live cartridges
One country made pistol with 02 live cartridges
Mobile Phone used for making extortion call
Four High end snatched mobile phones/Tab
One stolen M/cycles and one bullet motorcycle used to commit offences

TEAM, ARREST AND OPERATION:-

On 09/06/20, complainant (a Delhi based businessman) reported that he received a WhatsApp call wherein the end user introduced himself as Satineder @ Bhinda from Tihar Jail and asked a ransom of Rs. 1 crore failing which he and his family members would face dire consequences. Based on his complaint, a case vide FIR No. 450/20 dated 09/06/20 U/S 387/506 IPC was registered and investigation was taken up.


Considering the offence in the reported FIR as of the most serious offence of the land, a dedicated team of PS. Vikas Puri comprising of SI Sandeep Malik, SI Amit Dhani, HC Pawan, Ct Rajbir, Ct Surender, Ct Sube Singh, Ct Roop Singh, and Ct Sandeep Moun was formed under the close supervision of Insp. Mahender Singh Dahiya, SHO/Vikas Puri and overall valuable guidance of Sh. Rajender Bhatia, ACP/Tilak Nagar particularly considering the area of operation of the syndicate being Najafgarh. The team members worked continuously day in and day out to under close monitoring & guidance of ACP-Tilak Nagar to collect inputs from their various sources by using technical surveillance as well as human intelligence. Relevant details were obtained from Whatsapp server.

During course of the investigation, it revealed that alleged mobile number which was used for making extortion call was found to be snatched on 24/05/2020 from one Rakesh, a resident of Dichaun Kalan, Delhi and the same incident was found to be reported in PS Baba Haridas Nagar vide FIR No. 542/20 u/s 379/356/34 IPC. During investigation the phone instrument was recovered from possession of accused Akash who disclosed that this phone was given to him by accused Praveen Kumar and Rajeev @ Kalu who are active snatchers of West Delhi area.
