For an introduction, we will be discussing the definition of Wali, the position of Wali in Marriage, the reason Allah SWT bestowed upon us the concept of Wali.

From an analytical viewpoint, we will be explaining the differences between the concept of wali in Islam and the concept of guardian in western. Does the concept of wali in Islam is the same as the concept of guardian in western? Does the concept of wali in Islam is more safeguard or more preserved? How do western view the concept of Wali? Do they totally reject the concept of wali in Islam, or do they accept but try to modify it to suit the current era?

We also will be touching on current issues such as abolishing the Wali system because it restricts the freedom of children or daughters to choose. Is this system blocking the rights of women in life? Is Wali system looks really "retro" or old school and something not needed in modern society today?

Finally, we are going to see the effect on the institutions covering the importance of Wali in marriage and family. Why it is considered essential in family institutions? Why does Allah make it compulsory because as we know in Islam without wali marriage is not valid?
