This compilation provides a flavour of the presentations from a conference in Dublin on 'Legislating for Personal Insolvency in Ireland - International Developments & Domestic Issues'. Organised by FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres - more at http://www.flac.ie) on 19 April 2012, it aimed to spark debate around the impending Personal Insolvency Bill, then due at the end of April but which was published at the end of June 2012. We wanted to highlight issues like the constitutional and economic implications of including mortgage debt in an Irish personal insolvency law as well as the wider issue of how to deal with Ireland's massive unsecured personal debt crisis. International speakers gave examples of how other countries have handled similar personal debt crises.
