Becoming a member of the Ohio State Marching band takes more than talent — there’s a lot of hard work and perseverance involved. While there are countless stories about students overcoming the odds and finding their place on the field, Greg Daniel has a story unlike any other. In 1971 he became the first blind member of the band. Daniel remained a member of the band all four years he was at Ohio State.

Daniel’s story is featured in The Carmen Collection, https://carmencollection.osu.edu, an online archive of stories and experiences of historically underrepresented groups at Ohio State as part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration.
