About the Presenter

Dave Black: photographer, educator, author, and Nikon Ambassador United States.

“I love to make pictures.” Dave Black’s education in Commercial Graphics Design and Studio Drawing lend well to his vision of photography. “I love to make pictures that draw the audience in for a closer look.”

As a freelance photographer for over 40 years Dave’s work has primarily centered on the SPORTS and Action industry for such publications as Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek and the award winning TV show Sports Century on ESPN. The list of event coverage includes the Masters, Kentucky Derby, National Football League, NASCAR and extensive work regarding the United States Olympic Committee, Olympic athletes and coverage of 12 Olympic Games.

High Speed Sync Speedlights, Strobes and Lightpainting: Known for his Creative use of LIGHT and in particular Speedlights and Strobes along with the artistic technique of Lightpainting, Dave’s portfolio continues to broaden into the commercial and advertising industry, and with specialized lighting projects including work for the National Geographic and their book Where Valor Rests, Arlington National Cemetery.

Educator: Dave is a “Nikon Ambassador US” and “Nikon Legend Behind the Lens”, He is closely involved with the next generation of photographers by teaming up with the Online Instructor Faculty of Summit Workshops and KelbyOne.

Workshops, Presentations and Online Virtual Instructional Seminars: Dave’s long time involvement as an educator with numerous photography workshops and seminars since 1986 include Chris Steppig’s Summit Workshops series (Sports, Lighting, Adventure and Nature) along with KelbyOne Online Training and as a Key Note presenter at Universities and Camera Clubs across America each year.

His 37,000 followers on Instagram @daveblackphoto is a portfolio collection of Dave’s 41 years in the industry and offers in-depth instruction and backstories of how each images are made. And his latest educational addition teams-up Dave and his daughter Haley, a Wedding/Senior Portrait photographer, in their monthly AMA Monday Photo Q&A show on IG series @daveblackphoto.
