The UDHR is a historic document that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948. This is an animated video on the history, content and ongoing significance of the document. It explores the issue of human rights and how a straightforward concept is often complicated when put into practice. The animation is available in Rohingya, Burmese, Bangla and English audio.

This animation was inspired by passionate refugees across the world eager to learn about their rights and use their voice for justice. In particular, Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR) and the Liberation War Museum of Bangladesh (LWM) have been working with Rohingya refugees in the camps of Bangladesh, and have witnessed their determination first-hand. Carrying the trauma of the past and the uncertainty of the future, the refugees persist, tirelessly seeking out new ways to improve their circumstances while continuing to honour their culture and faith. As the determination witnessed spans across all levels of education and literacy, the video were prepared in audio in Rohingya, Burmese, Bangla and English to accommodate a range of users.

The Liberation War Museum (LWM) was established in 1996 as a civil society initiative to memorialize Bangladesh’s struggle for independence in 1971. For more than two decades, LWM has used grassroots methods to collect the stories of victims of violence. In 2014, LWM established the Centre for the Study of Genocide and Justice to promote research, documentation, education, and networking among those striving to promote justice. The Centre also focuses on the study of international crimes committed in Bangladesh and other parts of the world, and it strives to engage youth in the pursuit of justice.
