My thoughts on the pros and cons on two of the different mounting solutions from Rugged Radios after experience with both units.

The top mount is certainly easier to install as you can utilize the 12V socket in that space. There is no noticeable noise from using the 12v socket.

The lower dash mount is nice and gives a more finished look to the car but you need to run the wiring to the power terminals between the seats which requires at least removing the passenger seat to access.

Both units work great and I can't say one is more weatherproof than the other.
