Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) – enabling a net zero future in the UK

Описание к видео Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) – enabling a net zero future in the UK

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is a key low-carbon solution, enabling the production of clean power, clean products, such as steel and cement, and clean hydrogen – which can be used to decarbonise heating and transport. CCUS also enables greenhouse gas removal from the atmosphere through Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) or Bioenergy with CCS (BECCS).

CCUS is ready now. CCUS clusters - where multiple industries in an area share the infrastructure needed to transport and store CO2 - are in development across the UK. These clusters will need to capture between 20-30 million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2030, and over 50 million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2035, to reach the UK’s net zero ambitions. CCUS clusters will transform the UK’s industrial regions, so that existing businesses can decarbonise as the cost of emitting carbon rises, as well as attracting new business to the area.

The CCSA is the lead European trade association accelerating the commercial deployment of CCUS, with offices in the UK and Belgium. We work with members, governments and other organisations to ensure CCUS is developed and deployed at the pace and scale necessary to meet net zero goals and deliver sustainable growth across regions and nations.
