Breaking news from Pakistan: The 10-day nationwide goods transport strike has officially ended after successful negotiations between the Goods Transporters Association and the government.

According to the association spokesperson, the government has accepted most of the transporters’ demands, leading to an immediate announcement to call off the strike. Vehicle movement will resume from tonight, bringing relief to trade, ports, and supply chains across the country.

Key demands included amendments in transport laws, withdrawal of FIRs and fines against drivers and owners, allocation of space for 1,000 containers at ports, clearance of trucks stuck at the Pak-Afghan border, and installation of mobile licensing units on highways and motorways for LTV and HTV drivers.

Goods Transport Association President Malik Shehzad Awan confirmed that federal, Punjab, and Sindh government committees provided written assurances. A draft agreement has been signed, and an official notification will be issued shortly.
