The game opens with a memorable FMV showing the three main characters in an anime style without showing too much outside them being together, whilst some Ennio Morricone music (expect a lot of homages to it).

Rather unique for the time, you're presented with three characters to pick from to play their prologue. I opt for Rudy's first, although the order doesn't matter. Some of the early trophies won't pop because I played through this for a few hours and had to restart. The world interaction is similar to a Zelda game, and you'll be solving puzzles in dungeons using various items that the characters have. I play it somewhat close to my Link to the Past playthrough speedwise I guess. Rudy is the main character of the three both in story, and really in terms of where you should be investing to do the damage with in the form of his eponymous ARMs. I should also point out that I won't be using the item dupe glitch.

After talking with the nearby NPC destroy the nearby crates for items/blow them up, and chuck a chicken at the perched parrot for a trophy (and an item). Leave once you've been told to and listen to the Overworld theme which is inspired by Ecstasy of Gold.

Head SE to Berry Cave. It's a fairly liner first dungeon, and the switch mechanics and chests are presented to you tutorial style so you can do more advanced on in the dungeon. Fight everything you can on your way, and try to get a couple of levels before the boss at the end. Keep the bats with you, it increases your encounter rate. The only minor secret is the different coloured wall you can blow up at 14:35 for some stat increase apples.

Save at te Mystic Seal then carry onand blow up the wall and interact with a blue glowing stone in Berry Cave and escape with the young boy, before the first boss encounter. Use Hand Cannon as your primary attack choice, reload when needed, and heal at ~30HP and you should be fine.

You'll save the boy, but be outcast from the Village for using your ARMs power (even if you just attacked with your sword). You get blamed for the events leading to this and have to leave. The boy thanks you, despite knowing he can't speak out against the will of the adults. So Rudy goes back to Wandering, looking for his purpose. You're presented an option to swap here, but stick with Rudy for now and head to the Overworld.

Head SW of the entrance of Berry Cave to a more open area and then SE to Adlehyde. Stock up on items in the store and end at the parrot.
