Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Highlighting Cells in Excel: Mastering the Drawing Toolbar Circle Tools.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this episode, we will continue our discussion on how to use the tools on the Drawing toolbar in Excel. If you missed yesterday's podcast, be sure to check it out for an introduction to this topic.

To access the Drawing toolbar, simply go to View, Toolbars, and select Drawing. The toolbar will appear at the bottom of your screen, but for the purpose of this tutorial, I will keep it at the top. The Drawing toolbar is a great tool for drawing shapes, such as squares and circles, to highlight important data in your Excel spreadsheet.

To draw a circle, click on the Oval tool and then click and drag to surround the data you want to highlight. However, once the circle is inserted, it becomes completely opaque, making it difficult to see the data underneath. To fix this, simply right-click on the circle, choose Format, and then select AutoShape. From there, you can change the fill to "No Fill" and adjust the line thickness and color to your liking.

But what if you need to create a perfect circle? Well, you can do that too with the Drawing toolbar. Simply hold down the Shift key while drawing the circle, and Excel will automatically create a perfect circle for you. This is a handy trick to know when you need to highlight specific text or numbers in your spreadsheet.
