Meet Kanta Khadse, an artist from Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, who makes artistic brooms from date palm leaves, making decor items like baskets, fans and wall hangings, and is creating livelihood opportunities for women.

Supported by a partnership between the American India Foundation (AIF) and the Circle of Hope community, women artisans like Kanta are building sustainable enterprises through skill, market access, and technology.

Circle of Hope (CoH), a giving circle of women philanthropists, supports social and economic development initiatives that advance opportunities for girls and women in India. In collaboration with AIF and the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM), the partnership is building a technology-enabled marketplace that enables women from marginalized communities to access skilling, training, and both backward and forward market linkages.

This project has enabled the development of an e-commerce platform, the sampling and shipment of more than 50 products to the United States, the creation of a curated catalog featuring 18 unique handcrafted items, and the documentation of inspiring impact stories behind each product.
