On January 2, 2023, at approximately 11:00AM, I, Trooper Marshall Hill of the Arkansas State Police, was notified by Troop L Dispatch that Bentonville Police Department was attempting to stop a stolen vehicle. Dispatch also informed via radio that the suspect had hit someone in a parking lot and Bentonville had aggravated assault charges on the suspect.
I was already in the immediate area of Hudson Road the suspect was said to have been heading. The description of vehicle was tan Lexus SUV with a Dominoes Pizza sign on top. As I was westbound on Hudson Road approaching Water Tower Road I observed a vehicle matching the suspect description approaching me eastbound at high rate of speed. I did not immediately see any Bentonville Police units directly behind the suspect. I turned around with emergency lights and siren activated and began pursuing the vehicle, which was failing to stop.
The suspect passed the intersection of North 24th Street eastbound on Hudson Road approaching Dixieland Road. The suspect ran the red light of Dixieland Road and Hudson Road continuing east. At the intersection of North 13th Street, Trooper Richard Surrette initiated pursuit as well in front of me and took lead chasing the suspect. The suspect continued east onto North 8th Street toward US Highway 62 passing North 2nd Street. Suspect continued east on US Highway 62 approaching Rogers Municipal Airport. The suspect was driving erratic at high rates of speed exceeding 100 miles per hour and passing vehicles by switching lanes multiple times.
Near Morsani Drive on US Highway 62, Trooper Surrette attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT), causing the suspect to run off the road, but drove back onto Highway 62 and continued east. I then came along the driver side of the suspect vehicle and attempted a PIT which caused the suspect vehicle to spin around. Trooper Surrette came along the front passenger side of the suspect vehicle in an attempt to pin the suspect vehicle from moving any further. This contact action caused Trooper Surrette's vehicle to rollover entirely, pushing all 3 vehicles off the road into a ditch.
