Power Query is a data transformation and cleansing tool which allows you extract, transform and load data.

Interestingly, Power Query can automate the Excel reports by :
1. Data transformation. Power Query can help to transform your data via features such as splitting, merging, transpose, unpivot.
2. Data connection. Power Query can connect to a variety of data sources without having to manually copy and paste data from different sources.
3. Query refresh. In this case, Power Query allows you to automatic refreshes your queries, so that your data is always up to date where your reports will always reflect the latest information.

Overall, Power Query can simplify and automate the Excel report.
