Atlantic ave fire deemed homicide and arson as 2 people died from there injuries:

At 2:49 am Saturday morning, Winnipeg fire crews responded to the 200 block of Atlantic ave for reports of a 3 storey structure fire:

Crews arrived and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Crews initially entered the structure to fight the fire but due to worsening conditions they were forced to evacuate and fight the fire from the outside using hand-lines and 2 Ariel ladders.

When crews entered the structure initially, they searched the building and found 2 people inside. They removed the victims from the building. They were assessed my paramedics on scene. 2 were transported to hospital in unstable condition where they were pronounced deceased. Additional victims were treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire was deemed suspicious and the homicide division has taken over the investigation. The fire is also being ruled out as an arson.

The 2 victims have been identified as, 49 year old Geda Wodisso and Zenabu Gula.

The fire is under investigation by the homicide division, no arrested have been made.
