Описание к видео I Analyzed 200 EV Charging Bills and Found $847 in Hidden Fees

Dealers say EV charging costs $50/month at home. I analyzed 200 real electricity bills from EV owners—the average was $97/month. Here's what they're hiding.

*THE PROBLEM:*
Dealers quote $50/month ($600/year) for home EV charging. Sounds affordable. But when I collected 200 actual electricity bills from EV owners over 6 months, the average monthly cost was $97.25—nearly double the dealer quote.

That's $1,167/year, not $600. Over 8 years of ownership, that's $4,536 more than dealers claimed.

*THE 5 HIDDEN FEES:*

*1. DEMAND CHARGES ($12-$35/month)*
Found on: 34% of bills
What it is: Penalty for peak power usage
Annual cost: $144-$420
One Arizona Tesla owner: $28/month = $336/year

*2. TIME-OF-USE RATE PENALTIES ($18-$47/month)*
Found on: 67% of owners didn't know they had TOU rates
What it is: Charging during 4-9PM costs 3-4X more than midnight charging
Peak rate: $0.31-$0.43/kWh vs Off-peak: $0.11-$0.15/kWh
Annual cost: $216-$564
One CA owner: Paid $0.43 peak vs $0.11 off-peak = $125/month extra

*3. EV INFRASTRUCTURE FEES ($5-$15/month)*
Found on: 23% of bills (mostly TX, AZ)
What it is: Monthly fee just for owning an EV
Annual cost: $60-$180
Can't avoid it if utility charges it

*4. MINIMUM BILL CHARGES ($8-$12/month)*
Found on: 41% of EV owners (especially with solar)
What it is: Minimum monthly charge even if usage is low
Annual cost: $96-$144
Affects solar + EV households most

*5. GRID CONNECTION & METER FEES ($6-$10/month)*
Found on: 18% of bills
What it is: Fees for being connected to grid + smart meter
Annual cost: $72-$120

*TOTAL HIDDEN FEES: $70-$100/month extra*
If you're hit with all 5 categories (32 owners in my study were), that's $840-$1,200/year in costs dealers never mentioned.

*HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR REAL COST:*

*Step 1:* Call utility - ask for ALL EV rate plan options
*Step 2:* Request full fee breakdown (demand charges, TOU rates, infrastructure fees, minimum charges, meter fees)
*Step 3:* Calculate expected kWh (300 kWh/month for 1,200 miles average)
*Step 4:* Multiply by rate during hours you'll ACTUALLY charge (be realistic - if you plug in at 6PM, you're paying peak rates)
*Step 5:* Add ALL fixed monthly fees

*Real median cost: $93/month = $1,116/year (not $600)*

*5 WAYS TO MINIMIZE FEES:*

1. *Switch to EV-specific rate plan* - Saved owners avg $28/month
2. *Use Level 2 charger with scheduling* - Shift all charging to off-peak hours, saves avg $34/month
3. *Size solar for EV charging needs* - Don't undersize or you'll buy expensive grid power
4. *Document dealer claims* - Keep written cost estimates for complaints/leverage
5. *Join local EV groups* - Ask real owners what they actually pay
