We are looking at a Mercedes 280 SL of the R107 series. Since 1974 the 6 cylinder M110 engine with 2 overhead camshafts is part of the series.
The SL comes with 185 hp at 2746 cm³.
The 280 was built until 1985 and was then replaced by the 300 SL.

The two-seater roadster as the first with the model designation R is the 3rd SL series from Mercedes.
It was first available in 1971 as the successor to the well-known Pagoda W113 and was built until 1989.
The engine variants were initially the V8 engines 350SL and 450SL, from 1974 then the 280SL, from 1981 the 380SL and the 500SL. From 1985 there were the 300SL with a 6 cylinder overhead camshaft, the 420SL, 500SL and for the US, Asian and Australian markets the 560SL. At the end of 1989, the R107 series was replaced by the R129.
