In today’s vlog, I’ll take you to Transnistria (Pridnestrovie), an unrecognized breakaway state in Moldova, guarded by Russian peacekeepers. This region never fully accepted the collapse of the Soviet Union and instead declared independence. However, to this day, the world has not recognized Transnistria’s sovereignty.

I’ll show you around Transnistria’s capital, Tiraspol, where people still live much like they did back in the USSR. Today, this unrecognized Soviet state has its own currency, license plates, and passports, and nearly everyone speaks Russian.

Join me as we explore traditional Soviet-style canteens and discover what else the city of Tiraspol has to offer.
