THE KODOCHA RETROSPECTIVE (Season 1)

Описание к видео THE KODOCHA RETROSPECTIVE (Season 1)

Kodomo no omocha is a manga by sensei Miho Obana, but this video focuses on the anime adaptation from 1996. The show follows a hyperactive energetic girl named Sana Kurata as she balances her life as a child actress and with school. She meets the rambunctious mean boy Hayama Akito who causes mayhem during class, Sana villainizes him at first but sees a different side to him… Kodomo no omocha explores real issues children and adults go through and handles them with endearing maturity and infectious optimism.

I love kodocha, I love the characters, their conflicts, the aesthetic and it’s unbeatable comedy. If there was a scale for comedy, a laugh per episode counter, this is undoubtedly at the top of that scale and beats every other comedy anime I watched. The way it intermingles a serious drama ontop of that and has hard moments hit convinces me it is work of pure genius. From the first few episodes of this show it had so many themes and messages that I was overwhelmed, not to mention the denseness of each episode and tight pacing. I still felt I haven’t said everything I wanted to in this hour long video. Shame I don’t think I did it justice in this video…

So here’s the section where I am very critical of myself, uh didn’t like my finished product here. Just like the show it was fast-paced and dense but that was engaging, here it is nonsensical and I should have paid attention to what the viewer would actually watch instead of focuing on just the editting. It’s kind of incomprehensible at times without slowing down. Besides that, I did not do a good job of explaining why I love certain moments so much, I just showed them and expected they were self-explanatory, like everytime I used the counter ping thing. I put those in there to show I laughed at that moment but I should not have expected the viewer to laugh along with me. There was also many moments I had to rerecord to get a line right, but I just didn’t. Welp. I did feel like I put analysis and thoughts in there interspersed enough that its not just a big recap. So that’s good. Hope you liked it.
