I’ll let you in on a secret 🤐

I started this project as a way to push myself out of my comfort zone, build social skills, and hopefully make some new friends in the city.

This might surprise you, but I’m a huge introvert.

I like being alone, eating alone & living alone.

I’ve struggled with social anxiety for as long as I can remember.

10 years ago, a girl at work asked “Why are you so socially awkward?” in front of everyone.

It stung so bad that I still think about it to this day.

But you probably wouldn’t have guessed by watching these interactions.

Here’s the thing - you really don’t know what someone is going through until you get to know them.

Take Avery for example.

He walked by me on the beach in Kits - and my first reaction was intimidation.

He’s handsome, fit, cool tattoos & great style.

I actually thought he might be an Instagram model or something.

Nope - Avery didn’t even have a profile photo on his IG.

Turns out, Avery struggles with a lot of the same things that I do.

We went out for dinner this week and talked about deep topics such as our upbringing, depression, body dysmorphia, journalling, and what we’ve learned through years of therapy.

Social anxiety? Yep - we’ve both struggled in that department.

This year he made a resolution to talk to one new stranger every single day.

A way to push himself out of his comfort zone, work on his social skills, and meet new & interesting people.

Sound familiar???

I’m glad I met Avery.

He’s a funny, positive & genuine person.

And turns out he lives less than 5 minutes away from me.

We both made a new friend that day.

Because we both pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones.

Kinda makes you wonder…
