EvMan A/V live demo 01

Описание к видео EvMan A/V live demo 01

EvMan AV is an audiovisual project I have been developing for the past year. It's meant to become a full audiovisual experience, with the visuals rendered live using Unreal Engine and controlled via OSC with Ableton and Max/MSP. I am using a method developed by my friend Sem Schreuder to convert both midi, audio and controller data into OSC messages that can be used to activate and control various objects, parameters, cameras and effects inside the game engine. The result is a highly reactive and hopefully engaging visual experience.

The goal of this project is to bridge the gap between generative audiovisual art and bespoke stage visuals for musical artists and events. I have spent over 10 years as both a visual artist/VJ and musician, and during that time have always dreamed of creating a live experience that can convey the dynamics of the music as effectively as possible, while maintaining a visual quality that matches the standards of pre-rendered visual content. The accessibility of game engines like Unreal Engine has made this dream a reality.

What you are seeing is a demo performance of 15 minutes, showcasing the set in its current iteration in february 2021. A lot of time has gone into building a framework that I can now use to grow the project further.

This project is a labor of love and one of my proudest achievements. I owe much to my good friend Sem who has been a huge source of knowledge and inspiration throughout, and the friends who have seen it grow over the past year. Also big thanks to Louise van Tassel for lending me her amazing voice for the final track Purgatory, and my friends at LiGHT-UP collective in Utrecht for letting me use their space for the recording.

PS no I'm not going bald. That's what you get when your hair is greasy and patchy from spending 2 straight days geeking out without showering.
