Resonant Q is a cosmic horror survival action game for 1-3 players set on a collapsing orbital ring.
Fight anomalies, scavenge resources, and extract before your suit’s energy runs out.
Your goal is to restore the Ring’s functions to reach the Orbital Cities beyond, while looting, crafting, and upgrading your settlement at the base of the space elevator.
Story & Setting
Resonant Q features original lore written by Steve Parker (known for his work in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe), blending cosmic horror, sci-fi survival, and intergalactic civilizations shaped around dangerous power.
A Single Energy System Governs Everything
At its core, Resonant Q is built around a single, fragile resource: energy.
Your suit, weapons, life support, abilities, and detection systems all draw from the same limited power source.
Every action becomes a decision under pressure.
Spend energy to scan the darkness for what’s stalking you — or save it for combat when something finally emerges.
The Slums — Your Base of Operations
Your home base is the Slums beneath the Space Elevator — a growing hub of vendors and survivors that upgrades as you progress along the Ring.
Risk–Reward Extraction Loop
Starting from the Slums ascend the Space Elevator to the Orbital Ring, gather resources, extract safely, and use your haul to craft, build, and progress. Crafting items to repair mechanisms on the Orbital Ring will allow further areas to be unlocked, both on the Ring and on the planet.
The Volts
Choose from distinct hero characters, known as Volts, each with bespoke abilities, skill trees, playstyles and their own reasons for ascending to the Ring.
Weapon Levels
By finding the right resources you can upgrade and customize your weapons for the upcoming fight.
Crafting
Specialists handle the complex builds, but you can still craft certain items on your own.
A World in Decay
Players will explore a diverse range of environments — from swampy bioluminescent wetlands, industrial megastructures, ruins of alien civilizations, dense jungles and desolate wastelands.
Play solo or cooperatively.
In co-operative play, your brutal choices extend beyond individual survival.
Do you share your remaining energy with an ally who’s running out of oxygen, or conserve enough to reach extraction yourself? As the station’s failing power grid collapses, visibility disappears, systems shut down, and survival becomes a matter of restraint rather than firepower.
Resonant Q challenges genre conventions by combining the precision and responsiveness of competitive shooters with the tension, progression, and resource pressure of survival games.
Gameplay is deliberately a mix with sections that are survival horror with more tension, whilst other areas are more action.
This will be area and enemy dependent.
Whilst on the Orbital Ring you are constantly fighting against energy/oxygen depletion and limited munitions.
Unlocked areas on the planet may not have the oxygen depletion element but radiation may attack your suit and enemies may swarm you in droves.
Much more to be revealed in more detail soon.
Mature Content Description
The developers describe the content like this:
Whilst this game is fantasy violence, there will be some actions such as shooting enemies which will cause blood to appear on screen, and certain enemies such as cyborgs can be maimed.
