The Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM is a prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998. After winning the 1997 Grand Touring World Championship with the CLK-GTR progenitor, Mercedes updates the car making it aerodynamically lower, improving speed and fitting a V8 engine based on the winning car at Le Mans in 1989.

The German team with Jean-Marc Gounon, Christophe Bouchut and Ricardo Zonta at the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM n.36 did not finish the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998 due to broken engine after thirty-one laps

The race won by Porsche 911 GT1-98 n.26 with Laurent Aiello, Allan McNish and Stephane Ortelli, in second finished Kazuyoshi Hoshino, Aguri Suzuki and Masahiko Kageyama at the wheel of the Nissan R390 GT1 n.32, while in third position Jorg Muller, Uwe Alzen and Bob Wollek with the Porsche 911 GT1-98 n.25.
