Exploring Kazan, Tatarstan! Blue Lakes in Russia

On our final days in Kazan, the capital of the Tatarstan Republic in Russia, we explore more of the city and head north to the Blue Lakes.

We start our third day by heading to the Central Market. It is huge and divided into different sections. One thing that stood out to me from the market was that they sold horse meat, something I hadn’t seen before. Then we went exploring in the city and found a few Russian Orthodox churches to go into. We even got a private tour from one of the security guards outside the second church.

On our final day in Kazan, we went north of the city to the Blue Lakes. The water is always cold and clear because they are natural springs, 4 degrees Celsius even in Summer. There were people scuba diving in the Big Blue Lake as well, even though from the surface it seems only waist deep.

Exploring this part of Russia has been really eye opening and I hope to continue this series soon. Now it is time to head back to St. Petersburg and continue filming life in the city!
