Hi this is Peter Erskine speaking to you from the Zildjian cymbal factory here in Norwell, Massachusetts...with some brand new, very exciting, very inspiring cymbals. Zildjian will be premiering this number of cymbal lines at the 2012 NAMM show. I'm getting a sneak peak and now so are you.

The Custom Dark Complex Ride, 22 inches...

Now at this moment I'm not sure if complex is in reference to the multi-layered textures and the hard to define qualities and quantities as in complex...or maybe this cymbal has a complex, I don't know.

It's very hip, it's fun to play. I mean my first take on it is that it's not quite as trashy as the Chinese, what they call the China cymbals, or the trash cymbals. It's closer to being a legitimate cymbal than those and yet it has that kind of trashy, dangerous...OK, complex quality. If this were perfume this is definitely musk...and if this were breakfast this would be corned beef hash.

The 22" Renaissance...beautiful cymbal.

The Custom Hybrid Trash Smash...Its got a very unusual bell...that doubles as an ash tray...but with the hammering here the cymbal, also with the lathing, is actually both visually and sonically broken up into zones. So you get different tones playing on different parts of the cymbal. This is something I've not experienced...

All of them great instruments. All of them offering the universe of sounds that Zildjian is known for, and all of them waiting for you to check them out at NAMM. Happy New Year.
