Pool Opening 2024, Part 9 - Adding D. E. To The Filter

This video shows how to start up your Diatomaceous Earth Pool Filter.

With the pump off, rotate the multi-port valve to normal Filtration. Watch the gauge on the filter, and wait for a full minute to allow the gauge to rise. Ensure the pressure reads about normal with a clean filter.

Open the manual air relief valve to let out any remaining air. Administer several scoops of D.E. to your nearest skimmer, as fast as the plumbing will take it. Ensure you check the manual for your filter to find out exactly how much D.E. you will need to add. For this filter, I use 4-5 scoops. Always check the manual for your filter to find out how much to add.

You may experiment with the amount of D.E. you put in, you may find you can get away with using less sometimes, if the water isn't particularly dirty.

*CORRECTION: My filter is a 4820, everything else remains the same.
