Painless Fissure Sealants with the Laser

This video shows the sealants of tooth with the solid-state laser. The laser operates at a wavelength of 2940 nm and conditions the tooth surface , so that the sealing has a good bond to the tooth surface. The conventional treatment methods in dentistry roughen the tooth surface with phosphoric acid (etching) to get a bond to the tooth surface .

The treatment with the laser (Er:YAG-Laser) is extremely fast, painless, and does not require any chemical treatment of the teeth. This is very important because the tooth sealing is usually done on primary teeth (deciduous tooth, milk tooth) in the children-mouth.
