Victims of domestic violence experience unique challenges related to financial abuse and fraud by their intimate partners. These challenges often prevent victims and survivors from safely leaving an abusive relationship.

Understanding the types of financial fraud, such as identity theft, credit card fraud and sextortion that can be used as a form of control or coercion by an intimate partner can help victim service professionals be better equipped to assist survivors.
