Videos like this are common on social media. You’ll see a content creator act out a conversation between two opposing views. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this style of videos, one of the liabilities is that it makes it easy to strawman the position you don’t agree with. A strawman fallacy is when someone distorts or weakens a view so it can be easily defeated.

This viral video is a great example. It relies on a series of strawman answers to create confusion in an attempt to make Christianity look ridiculous.

Hey, this is Red Pen Logic with Mr. B, where we assess bad thinking by using good thinking. In today’s video, I thought it might be fun to play the role of the Christian in this video, which works out well because… I am a Christian.

So what I’ll do is replay the twelve questions and offer what I think is a thoughtful Christian response. And, though, you might not agree with my position, I hope you’ll at least see the difference between the strawman presented by the Muslim playing a Christian, and what Christians actually believe.
