Spiked Online editor Brendan O'Neill has said "everyone will suffer" if the BBC "becomes more biased" and "allows its anti-Boris sentiment to takeover its reporting."

Speaking to talkRADIO's Julia Hartley-Brewer he was discussing the BBC's Panorama show 'Has the Government Failed the NHS?' after it emerged that a number of NHS workers on the show were Labour activists.

"We know that the BBC has made a few faux pas in this coronavirus crisis," he said. "For example they reported that the head of an NHS trust was asking Burberry to help provide PPE. But it later turned out that he wasn't the head of an NHS trust and the BBC had to apologise.

"The BBC has got to be very careful because they are looked upon by the public as the neutral purveyor of actual news. If you want to know what's happening you think to yourself 'I'll turn to the BBC.

"If the BBC becomes more biased, if it allows it's anti-Boris sentiment to takeover its reporting and pollute its reporting everyone will suffer as a consequence of that.

"It's absolutely right to keep the BBC on its toes and to call them out when we think they are behaving in an overly political way."
