Описание к видео Cultural Protection Fund: Bettany Hughes meets young Syrian refugees learning traditional music

In our film series 'Rebuilding Lives' co-produced with Sandstone Global, historian and broadcaster Bettany Hughes visits British Council-supported projects in Jordan and Lebanon.

In this film, Bettany Hughes visits one of Action for Hope's music schools in the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon, where Syrian refugee children from surrounding camps are learning traditional music and instrument making.

This project is supported by the British Council's Cultural Protection Fund, set up in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to protect heritage at risk due to conflict in and around the Middle East and North Africa. As well as protecting vital cultural heritage that is at risk of being lost forever, the fund is also working with communities in the region to create sustainable opportunities for social and economic development.
