How to catch the Hyrule Loach in Ocarina of Time

This video shows how to find and catch the Hyrule Loach in Ocarina of Time. The Golden Scale is not required for the loach to appear, and the size of the biggest fight caught does not matter either. The sinking lure is also not necessary. This method works on the 3DS version, too.

About how to get the loach to appear:
The loach appears on the fourth time that you CONSECUTIVELY enter the pond and pay the fishing fee of 20 Rupees; that is, you must repeat the process of paying the 20 Rupees, quitting, and exiting the pond THREE TIMES CONSECUTIVELY in order for the loach to appear in the lily pads during the fourth time that you go back into the pond. This is also kept track of even when you save the game and restart it: if you paid the fee twice before saving and restarting the game, then you only have to pay the 20 Rupees ONE more time to get the legendary fish to appear on your fourth visit. The loach will appear on the fourth visit to the pond whether you have paid the fee or not if and only if the previous conditions have been met.

It is important to note that the fee must be paid three times consecutively: if you go in and out of the pond WITHOUT paying for the first two times and only pay the fee on the third time, the loach will NOT appear on your fourth visit to the fishing hole. Even then, the game still has kept track of how many times you have paid the fee. In the previous example, you will only have to pay the fee two more times to get the loach to appear on your next visit to the pond. Once the Hyrule Loach appears, it will remain there even if you exit and reenter the pond, so long as you do not pay a fourth time. After paying, exiting the pond will cause the loach to disappear and for the count to reset back to zero.
