Evaluating Potential Police Dogs - Testing Drives, Traits and Environmental Stability

Описание к видео Evaluating Potential Police Dogs - Testing Drives, Traits and Environmental Stability

Evaluation video of some future working dogs we are evaluating for police work. Some of the things we do (not all) to see if a dog is ready to test for police/government work. Please understand - if you want your "savage" to go into police or government work they have to have a hunt, defense, and environmental stability over everything else. They have to allow a complete stranger to grab the leash and in return, the dog must work for the complete stranger (to a degree). They must react and perform for strange people, in a strange place, with new tasks being asked of them. We rarely if ever evaluate prey drive, outside of using it to activate a young dog close up - as the odor in the real world has no "prey" association. We will also rarely if ever evaluate a dogs ability to run-down the man and do long suit bites - honestly means very little other than the dog likes prey bites. I want to see a dog standing their ground, posting out, defending their space and going into straight defense and or "fight-drive". From this - anything can be built. From this monster's can be developed.

These are two very young dogs - bright, bright futures!
