Electronic Stability Control, or ESC, is designed to help the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. ESC is an Active Safety feature that helps prevent your vehicle from skidding by monitoring the intended path versus the actual path. It also helps drivers maintain control during sudden braking or extreme steering maneuvers. ESC consists of various sensors and systems that enhance the vehicle’s stability and ensure better traction control. Depending on the driving conditions, if ESC determines a wheel is spinning faster than normal, it can automatically apply the brakes to individual wheels to enhance traction and it can adjust engine speed to enhance control. ESC is automatically activated when you start your Kia.
To turn off ESC, press the ESC OFF button. The ESC OFF indicator will appear. It also turns off STABILITY CONTROL and TRACTION CONTROL.
To turn ESC back on, press the button again.
