This is a recording test of an actual Edison acoustic studio recording head, circa 1910-1925. This is an original piece of history from Edison's recording Laboratories, it is much different from a home recorder. I purchased this item at the Mechanical Music show in Union, IL. Thomas A. Edison Walter Miller, Fred C Burt and George Werner were the only men allowed to see and use this recording head. I have a proprietary recording diaphragm. This was not only used to record masters for Gold Moulded, and Amberol records, but also was used to make Diamond Disc masters, as well, a similar head on the 1912 Edison disc master recorder. It has an advance ball, and 2 minute cutter at this time. There are rings for different size diaphragms, this is equipped with a standard size composite diaphragm. No diaphragm or cutter were present when it was purchased, in fact no factory heads are all complete with cutting stylus. This is the 5th diaphragm change I have made and I like the sound of it.
