With the rise of the Internet of Things and the shift from single products to decentralized systems, the functional working of products will be defined for a great part in the digital layer. With the addition of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities, predictive knowledge is added to the mechanics of designing connected products. 

How welcome this is in a complex world, it introduces also challenges. What if these predictions become prescriptions? What does this mean for the design space of these things? What will happen with experiences as surprise, failing and spontaneity, if the things know our future? 

In this session I like to share insights from our research investigating how to design a future with things that predict.
