Well....you may know the feeling: the soil was a bit too wet, but more rain was coming, and the weeds needed weeding. Under these conditions, with the slow moving Oz, fingers were not quite doing the job, so we added a Thiesen rake off the back. You can see it helped fracture soil. What you probably can't see is that it also helped kill small weeds. Blindly running rakes and flextine weeders over the top of cabbage is a little scary, but seems to do very little harm once the transplants are anchored (~10 days after transplanting), and can make a world of difference in reducing in-row weeds.
