As "Plastic Surgeon of the Week" and as an active member, it is my distinct pleasure and honor to give a brief history of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Learn about the origins of modern day plastic surgery and a few facts that I bet you never associated with plastic surgery. Having been a member of ASPS over the last 12 years, I have come to rely on the organization for my personal education, goals for innovation, and advocacy of the specialty. Plastic surgery is an incredibly gratifying field that has the power to change peoples' lives in so many ways. It encompasses the art of restoring form and function to what was lost or what was at one time, never there.
