In this video, Barrie Realtor Jacob Keogh of RE/MAX Hallmark Chay Realty breaks down the meaning of 'days on market (DOM)' and what it means for you.

Days on market covers the period of days from a property being listed for sale on MLS, to the date when the sale of the property to a new buyer firms up (also known as closing day or completion date).

When days on market are generally low in any given market, that means homes are selling fast and that market is in favour of sellers (aka a seller's market).

When days on market are generally higher, it means there are more homes than buyers, therefore that market favours buyers.
