Описание к видео Spain's culinary traditions affected by virus

(29 Mar 2020) On a typical Sunday in Madrid, residents would be flocking to the markets to buy tortilla, paella and roast chicken for their family reunions.
But the pandemic and its consequential lockdown is disrupting this culinary tradition.
Juan José Lopez who owns the Kilo y Cuarto delicatessen in the Spanish capital says his sales have plummeted.
Most of his customers are coming in to buy bread rather than meals because they now have more time to cook as they quarantine at home.
Large family reunions have also been suspended and as a consequence the tradition of sharing a big pan of paella or Spanish omelette has too.
Lopez also regrets that the days of the week are now jumbled together into a continuous and endless period of time.
"It used to be that the weekend was a moment to rest but that has also changed," he said.
But some like Rosi Blanco, who is retired and more vulnerable to fall ill from the new coronavirus refuse to give up their weekend habits.
"I always come here," she said standing outside Lopez's deli covering her face with a scarf. "Even before the virus, every Saturday and sometimes on Sundays."
The lockdown in Spain is scheduled to continue until at least April 11, though many health experts admit it will most probably be extended longer.
As of Saturday, Spain had reported 72,248 cases of the virus, including 5,812 deaths.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
