History between Texas Tech & Washington State:

Texas Tech Injury Update:
Out for the year
Dylan Spencer: Knee
Joseph Adedire: Knee
Out at Wazzu
Charles Esters: Thigh (2-3 weeks away)
Javeon Wilcox: Knee
Questionable at Wazzu
Tahj Brooks: Arm (true game-time decision)
Harvey Dyson: Foot
Bralyn Lux: Thigh
Cj Baskerville: Shoulder
Quincy Ledet: Knee
John Curry: Shoulder
Arguably 4 of the Top 6 pass rushers for Tech listed… brutal

Players To Watch: Texas Tech
Behren Morton: Outside of maybe 2-3 plays, Week 1 couldn’t have gone better for Behren Morton. He had his “zip” on the ball back, he was well protected, and the playmakers around him were vastly improved and capitalized with a great game. Now can he do it on the road? That’s the big question and my bet is yes

Josh Kelly: He’s returning to his previous school where he led the team in receiving in 2023. In his first game as a Red Raider, Kelly went for 10 catches, 156 yards and a TD. He had 15 targets and honestly… probably should have had 20. He’s a true WR1 for the Red Raiders and a guy that WSU knows they’ll have to scheme for. Who knows him better than them right?

Ameir Washington: With how quickly ACU was getting the ball out, he didn’t have a chance to get to the QB as much as Tech fans would have liked. That said, after rewatching the game, he beat his man at a pretty consistent rate, but as mentioned the ball was out quickly. Maybe Ameir gets home to the QB and gets a sack or two on the West Coast

Players To Watch: Washington State
John Mateer (QB): He is a Little Elm, TX native and is in his first year as a starter at Wazzu. In game one for the Cougars against Portland State, Mateer through for 352 yards and 5 TD’s. He got the ball out quick against Portland State in week 1 averaging just over 2.2 seconds. This was something that caused Tech trouble against ACU.
Kyle Williams (WR): Led the Cougars in receiving in Week 1 with 141 yards on 4 catches and 2 TDs. He’s coming off a season where he was second in receiving yards for WSU in 2023 just behind current Red Raider, Josh Kelly. He’s a big play threat that can make multiple people miss. Coach DeRuyter will not try and scheme up coverages to stop him
Kris Hutson (WR): Much like Williams in Week 1, Hutson also went over 100 receiving yards. He had 4 catches for 101 yards and a TD. Him opposite of Williams will no doubt be a priority for the Red Raider secondary.

Must Watch Matchup:
Texas Tech Secondary vs. Washington State WR’s
RC’s Take: I mean duh right? The Tech secondary was abysmal against ACU and is now playing a team that much like ACU loves to throw the ball around the yard and quickly. Communication will have to be at least 100x better for the Red Raiders if they don’t want to give up yet another 50 burger

Odds:
Spread - Washington State (-2.5)
Total - 66.5

RC’s Prediction:
Texas Tech - 41
Washington State - 36
