The owner has been provided with a hire car, but it does not have all-wheel drive, which is needed in their rural location. After a month, the author was informed that the case had been closed as resolved and a goodwill payment had been offered and accepted. Within a week of the author's contact with Ford, the estimated timescale for the battery replacement dropped from five months to two weeks, with Ford agreeing to source a battery from Germany. The situation has since been resolved and the car has been trouble-free since the new battery was fitted.
