2-Day Chief Directorate: District Operations Management Strategic Planning Session

Day-1 The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education's Branch: Institutional Development and Support held a Strategic Planning Session with the aim of charting a way foward as the 2024 Academic Year begins.

The Strategic Planning Session was attended by Members of Top Management, Head Office SMS Members, the 12 District Directors and three CESs per District (GET, FET, CMC and Head Office).

During the presentations, there were discussions held on the challenges and critical issues affecting the operations and functionality of districts as the new academic year begins.

The purpose of the Two-day Strategic Planning Session was outlined by the DDG: IDS, Mrs Weziwe Hadebe.

"This is a new academic year that should be characterized by renewed vigor, hard work, dedication and enthusiasm that will ensure that the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education continues to ride on the wave of success that will set KZN apart from all other provinces," said DDG: IDS, Mrs Weziwe Hadebe.

The Programme Director, in her remarks said, "please allow me to delve into why we all had to gather here today and tomorrow.

Firstly, it is a no brainer that as professionals, we ought to strategically plan before we embark on any task. It is our view that to be able to start the year on a positive note, we need to plan in advance, before we even start doing that which we are supposed to do."

The HOD, Mr Nkosinathi Ngcobo, in his address appreciated the invite that was accorded to him as it provides him with a good opportunity to meet with all the District Directors in one place.

He then asserted that this Strategic Planning Session should reflect on how the Department is managing the operations of its districts.

He succinctly articulated points he wanted the districts to know from him as the Accounting Officer of the KZN Department of Education.

He further stated that this Strategic Planning Session created a platform for reflecting and hitting the ground running and keeping the eyes firmly on the prize, which is the provision of quality and accessible education and placing a learner in the centre of all the Department's activities.
