To celebrate the recent repairs and maintenance of Ringold Leather History Alley, the SF Leather District—who organized and managed the work—together with SoMa West CBD, which funded the project, hosted a community block party honoring the Alley’s cultural legacy.

Event Highlights included:
• Leather history tours at 1 PM and 2 PM led by noted historian and SF Leather District board member Gayle S. Rubin
• Live painting by Josh Katz
• Rope suspension demonstration by The Two Knotty Boys
• Caricatures by Paul Gallo
• Bootblacking by Boy Zander

In honor of the Alley’s iconic bronze bootprints, sixteen local artists each transformed a combat boot into a unique artwork. The boots were exhibited during the event and offered as part of a silent auction, with many artists present to discuss their work and creative process.
