About This Release:

None More Records are very happy to present the first release in the None More Rollers series. Dancefloor focussed tunes with their usual splash of weirdness.
We're delighted to be launching the series with some serious heat from London based production duo Hooson & Johnson, which has received early support from Gilles Peterson, Richard Sen and Joe Muggs. Drawing inspiration from the bassy and hi-fi textures of Joy Orbison's 'Still Slipping Vol. 1' and the space disco of the likes of Lindstrøm, the pair have turned in 3 luxurious, floaty chuggers designed squarely for that White Isle set either by the pool at Pikes or peak time at Freddie's.

'Ambient Juice' opens the EP, a slick and gliding tune that warms up from a summery start into a serotonin-inducing heater. Then comes 'Return Leg', a bubbly groover drenched in shiny metallic chords and a sparkly bright lead line. 'Small Zhuzh' closes out the EP, a slower, chuggy belter built around a chunky, shifting bass line that sounds like it's dreaming of a white sandy beach.

In early 2020, friends and fellow DJs Osian and Rory ditched their first names to form Hooson and Johnson. Equipped with a bass guitar, drum machine, and a curious spanner-magnet-piezo contraption, the duo set about honing their Balearic-tinged sound in studios across South East London. With groove at its heart, their texture-rich electronica weaves intricate drums and spacious synths with sparse vocals for a fresh take on a classic sound.
