String Trio No. 1 in C Minor (Original Composition)

I decided to write this piece on a whim. I long wanted another shot at the Classical idiom but I never had a way back into it. I was talking with some friends in the Fall about doing a small ensemble for fun since at the time it seemed like no one was looking out for us music kids during the End Times. We decided on a string trio: Violin, Viola, Cello. I then thought it would be cool to write for that ensemble. It was a very classical ensemble type so I went from there and wanted to write a Mozartean Trio in the dark key of C Minor. But, it didn’t feel Mozartean in the final product… It was much more like Schubert! Edging on darker and romantic themes while using classical idioms was the style of Schubert and my piece better represents this I think. The first movement was written in the span of 4(?) days. In sonata form, it is quite aggressive and in an almost romantic style. I quite enjoy this final product and I hope you do too!
