1985/1986 European Cup was won by FC Steaua Bucureşti, Romania when they defeated in the final match of FC Barcelona, Spain 2-0 on penalty kicks after 0-0 in regulation time and extension in Seville May 7, 1986. Steaua Bucureşti became the first team from Eastern Europe to win the tournament, while the team's goalkeeper Helmuth Duck Adam kept a clean sheet in the final match and additionally saved all four penalty kicks.
